Ready to turn to the cloud? 60% of CIOs say yes

According to a study by IBM, more than half of CIOs are ready to turn to the cloud in the next five years in order to grow their businesses and gain a competitive edge, says Fox Business.

The survey polled more than 3,000 CIOs across the world. As providers begin to ramp up their cloud efforts, the industry is seeing the demand go up. Two years ago, the same survey found that only 33 percent of CIOs planned to utilize the cloud for their businesses.

Fox Business said IBM’s CIO Jeanette Horan felt that in “mature markets, like the U.S. and Japan, are looking to cloud computing to drive savings and as a new way to deliver IT services. In emerging markets, companies are concentrating on cloud computing for business agility, the ability to deploy new applications more rapidly.”
